How Acoustic Leak Correlation Works
Leak correlation is the most accurate method for locating underground water leaks on pressurized pipes. The technology works by placing sensors at two access points on a pipe (hydrants, valves, meters) and analyzing the sound waves generated by the leak as they travel through the pipe wall.
The correlator calculates the time difference between when the leak sound reaches each sensor. Combined with pipe material, diameter, and distance data, this precisely identifies the leak location between the sensors.
The Correlation Process
